SEASON 3 UPDATE

Ive been very negligent about my blogging lately.  Facebook and Twitter are so much easier.  And more than often, dangerous.  Me with an instant venting source is not a good thing.  My passions tend to get me in hot water.  I recently Twittered about losing an editor to Frank Darabont and basically called Frank a cunt.  Although the move was a shitty one (poaching staff), it probably didn't help my career any lashing out at Mr. Shawshank.  Add another amends to the list.

Anyway, season three is shaping up, the premier is written and I'm finishing up a draft of 302 this weekend.  We begin production in five weeks and I hope to have two more scripts done by the time we start.  I've met with all the actors and everyone is eager to get back to work.

You may have read in the trades this week that we signed on Kenny Johnson for six episodes.  I'm really excited about working with KJ again.  We established his character, Kozik, in episode 212 last season.  He's a Tacoma-based Son who has a history with Tig and the Redwood Originals.  We are in the process of making deals with four other guest stars.  Some returning, some new.  I will keep folks posted.

I really appreciate the fan response on this blog, Facebook and Twitter.  People are seriously invested in SOA.  They have a lot of opinions, thoughts, desires and rants.  I love it.  Means we're doing something right.  Keep it coming.

This is the greatest show ever. I thought the Sopranos an 24 was the best til I saw this show. It gets better every episode. Please put more than 13 episodes in 1 season thou. We need 24 episodes and maybe if it doesnt kill the show a full length movie.

Keep it ripping.

I just shared this lengthy anecdote and wanted to preview it which somehow erased my again lengthy comment, but fans of SAMCRO are the only friends I have so I'll tell it again.

About 3-4 years ago my sister and I went out in Silver Lake (east of Hollywood for those LA-unfamiliars) to a bar eponymously called 4100 which also happens to be uncoincidentally the bar's numerical postal designation. I was living in LA at the time and had been desensitized to brush encounters with celebrities, so when my sister Kacie and I entered the bar a familiar yet peculiar face caught my eye. It was Ron Perlman. HOWEVER, I leaned in, pointed Ron out to my sister and went on to explain who he was. "That's Tom Waits," I said. My sister had never heard of him. I wasn't/am not a Waits-fan so I dismissed the recognition.

Half a pint of Stella later and a few bodies closer I realized my mistake. Now I was excited. I told Kacie that I was wrong, that the man I said was Tom Waits was actually Ron Perlman. Same blank face from Kacie. So I said one word and the penny dropped: "Hellboy." Now she was excited. So we made our way towards Ron and his friend (I want to say David Something?) and my sister, being fetching, caught Ron &co. attention and we two pairs--Ron, friend, myself, and Kacie--became a foursome for the remainder of the night.

Ron was hands down cool. Approachable, accessable, great listener. I remember discussing "genius" vs. "brilliance" with him--my topic of choice which he fully engaged in and he said he honed his craft by studying Brando which was a refreshing insight that success happens as well for the unconventional student as it does for the parochial variety. Ron and friend bought two rounds of drinks for my sister and me so in return I was going to purchase the third when I was informed that last call had been announced some time before. Dismayed I turned to Ron apologizing. His reply: "You can 'em next time." That exchange right there is one of the top five feel good moments in my life.

One more thing. I admitted to Ron that I thought he was Waits earlier. He said that happens a lot. Then he mused, "I wonder if Waits is ever mistaken for me." It doesn't present as philosophical but sure as hell struck me like "Cogito ergo sum".

So to Ron: Kyle and Kacie Miller remember and appreciate his generosity and look forward to a time when we can repay the favor. Looking forward to Season 3 of SAMCRO.

Respectfully,

Kyle Miller

I love the show and have watched it from day one. Being a pretty hardcore biker myself and having been in a pretty serious accident recently when i hit a lady at 50mph who made a left in front of me back in November the show helped me through some rough days in the hospital. thanks for that and i hope to be back riding by the time season 3 releases....

LOVE the show!!! As one of the 99percenters, it's interesting to see life of the other side. Keep up the great work! I just hope this show doesn't get killed like so many other good ones have just to put on more reality bullstuff.

This is a show worth tweaking over. I loved it from day one and it just gets better, restoring faith in good television. Happy St. Paddy's to you and yours and cheers for the upcoming season!

i think SOA IS a very interesting show that shows what bikers can and can be. being a family memeber of a person who is in a club, i see different things that the show portrays. I hope that there is a way to meet the staff and crew, like at a signing. Good job in what you do. thank you for making this series.

You mentioned amends in your blog. Are you a friend of Bill W? Anyway, when are you going to address what happened to Jax' wife? Or what ever happened to the prospect's girl? Last, are you casting extras? Would love to be a part of SOA!!!

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to all the twists and turns that Season 3 will bring! Any chance we'll ever see Jesse James of West Coast Choppers fame take on some sort of role on the show? He seems like he'd be a great addition.

Really Can't wait for Season 3. It seems so long. I'm in UK so have to wait even longer then in the US. But it has me gripped so much. It reminds me a bit of the HA and watch SOA its like having them close to my heart, like I can really relate to them. I hope you write many more seasons. Your truly a great writter as you make it so true to life.

Thank you.

Great job Kurt,

How many episodes are there going to be in season 3? Please tell me it isn't going to be a short season like season 2.

With the VET link to SAO have you thought about a KIA funeral in town that brings in a bunch of diverse bikers to Charming when the family requests the presents of a Fictional/Nonfictional Group like the PGR? This could throw a monkey wrench in to the works as the solemn nature of a military furneral with TV cameras present. Who know there might be an eger report trying to make a name for themself when they see or hear something they shouldn't. Who know it might even backfire on someone unexpected, you know like Stahls.

With the nature of a group like the PGR it might even bring in some honored enemies to the mix. Like an excop that is still looking for some payback, or an Old war vet buddies thinking someone owes them something.

Ever thought about a contest to give a chance to some lucky fans as an extra or a bit part on the show?

I think your show is Great. What I like the best is your interest in your fans. You keep us up to date personally. That shows people you believe in what you are doing & appreciate your fans of the show. Ive rode with 1%'s among others and when I first watched the show it hit home. For once some one actually didnt dramatize this life style. You show what its like not what people "think" its like. Keep up the good work, looking foward to the next season. Thanks for a show worth watching...!

Can't wait for season three. I love that Jax , He is so hot but his style and demeanor is something fierce . I commend the writers cause everyone plays their parts and work so well together everyone compliments each other and when one is lost ouch it really hurts.

I just wanted to say that this show is beyond amazing. The cast that was put together for this show couldn't be any better. It is the first show in a long time that I count down the days until the next episode. I find it nerve racking that there is only one season every year but it is well worth the wait. I have always been a bike lover but life has not seen it as my time to own one. The day will come when I will have a ride of my own and I hope to find a club/brotherhood that is anything like SAMCRO. Keep up the awesome work and hope there is a possibility for the show to become the longest running series of all time.

I find this show riveting and with each episode ending I want to see more lol. Wish you the best on all your projects, to your future films

honestly I cant explain what I felt watching the last 2 episodes of season 2, I mean I loved the whole season, but it was just so raw and tense

the scene with Gemma, Polly and Stahl, the whole sequence starting with stahl killing Eddie, was crazy,

I got the kind of nervous feeling id get from watching the shield,

thanks for sharing your thoughts and updates with your fans,I respect that,

I'm a french addict of SoA. At first, I didn't think I would like the serie that much. But that's really a different type of life, I didn't know about. I'm not saying that I'm watching SoA thinking I could actually learn something or taking notes & give lessons or something ^^ ! No, I'm really enjoying the show. You shall be a little bit twisted to have all these amazing ideas :P ! Which you make you unique I guess :D !

Well, I just can say, congrat's ! And keep going, I can't wait to see the third season.

For what it worths I really am impressed by your job.

Sorry if there are mistakes, like I said : french girl.

Hey, my name is Oli and im from Australia!! im glad to say i have austar (pay TV) because otherwise i would be very unfortunate to have never been introduced to your show! It is an interesting portrayal giving an understanding of the lifestyle a bike club lead, i like that you have created a willingness to connect to the characters. Showing them as human beings like any disfunctional family with their oputlaw streak intact! i love that you keep the suspence every episode! I literally watch the repeat of every episode each week. Great creative writting, i can't wait until free to air people get a taste of it down under it will be a hit!

Your cast are awesome especially Jax and Opie!

Keep the episodes coming! LOooove it!!

Myself and my husband have been jonesin' for the new season to start. I began watching and after the first season was over my husband took my prodding and listened to me, he watched from the DVR, he was hooked like a bass attacking a spinner bait in fishing terms. Thanks for the great acting and the intelligent writing that is believable with great characters. It reminds me of the great caliber of actors from the 70's when I was a kid like Ernest Borgnine, Lorene Green, Robert Mitchum, James Arness. Great company, Lisa Oaks

The Future called and they want their Ratings back, it seems you have gobbled up all the ratings from now until infinity. ..
But seriously, this SoA Show is Top Class # 1 Quality Kick-Ass stuff, more emotions and storyline than any Feature-Film i have ever seen. In general there are lots of Good Cable series out there which rock !. Here my favourites list in order of Greatness:
1 - Sons of Anarchy
2 - Breaking Bad
3 - Mad Men
4 - Luther (UK TV Series)
5 - Wallander (SWE TV Series)
6 - Lie to Me
7 - Level9
